(BC)2: Building Community at Brookfield Central
(BC)2 is an organization of Elmbrook citizens dedicated to building an athletic facility to replace Brookfield Central's aging football field / track. The project incorporates multi-purpose synethetic turf stadium field and a multi-phase plan for future development of athletic facilities at Brookfield Central. We invite you to join us in this community effort by making a contribution. Phase I of this project, the conversion of the football/soccer field to artificial turf and the upgrade to the practice fields was completed in September 2006.
Current Issues
- The track is in poor condition
- Baseball games are held off campus
- The current stadium needs updating
Action
Phase I - Completed September 2006
- Create a synthetic turf field
- Enlarge soccer practice fields to regulation size
Still to be completed:
Results
- There is an increased amount of higher quality practice fields so teams do not have to compete for practice space.
- Home soccer games are now back at BCHS.
- The football/soccer field is available to host more events.
Terms of use are not subject to weather.
Additional Phases
- Build a baseball field with a synthetic turf infield
- Upgrade stadium facility with new bleachers, pressbox, scoreboard, and concession building with restrooms
- Develop a new tennis complex
Facts
- The previous athletic field was grossly underutilized (9% usage of potential hours). Weather and wear quickly created a surface unsuitable for athletics and other activities.
- The (BC)2 Capital Campaign created a multi-purpose synthetic turf stadium field, increasing usage to 87%.
- Baseball games are currently played off-campus. New facilities would bring the team back home and improve school spirit.
- The (BC)2 Capital Campaign creates a multi-purpose, multi-phased plan to bring these sports back to Brookfield Central.
- Current stadium field maintenance costs exceed $25,000 annually.
- The(BC)2 Capital Campaign field would cost less than $1000 annually.
- Studies show that synethetic turf surface reduces player injuries.
- Junior Lancer programs, summer programs, and other activities will benefit.
